Sophia has been great recently, I mean really great. She has been very obedient, potty training is essentially done (knock on wood), and she is a great big sister. As a reward we decided to do a special movie night for her. We tried to communicate to her for about two days that we were going to give her a bath and then put Piper down and then she was going to be allowed to come down stairs and stay up past her bed time. For some reason she wasn't interested in doing this at first. Whenever we told her the plan, she would simply say, "no thank you, I would like to sleep in my bed."
We realized that she didn't get it, so we proceeded with said plan on Monday night. We went over to a neighbor's house across the road and got a bunch of Disney movies on TAPE. That's right - old school vhs baby. I was going to buy them - but man - have you seen the price of Disney DVD's? They are killer, I would love to have the entire Pixar libary but at 20 bucks a pop, I am out before I even start. Anyways - we landed on Toy Story for our evening movie.
We went upstairs and did our thing bath-wise and then went into Piper's room for a story. Then Sophia and I took her convertible couch downstairs and set it up. After our little area was set-up, we popped some popcorn and started up the movie that started it all. Bottom line is: she loved it. She kept smiling at us with this really cheesy grin and tapping us. At one point she gave us both a kiss (we laid on either side of her, Em on the couch me on the floor). She really enjoyed Toy Story as well. She gasped a lot and yelled at the screen a lot. All in all, this little endeavor formed a really sweet moment for us.
The Set-Up
The happiness.
