Selling water for the future

One of Sophia's new favorite bathtime things to do is to "sell water". She fills that big pitcher up on the right up with water either from the bath or from the tap (if she gets started during the filling up of the bath), puts the top on, and then proceeds to fill up the cups that you see on the left. The first time she did this, I asked her how much her water was - to which she replied "free dollars" (translated: three dollars). On a side note, Sophia has been obsessed with the number three ever since she learned her numbers - everything was three - the time, amount of something, cost of something - everything. I proceeded to get the imaginary three dollars out and fake drink the bath water that was offered to me at such a high premium.
Then comes the scam - she asks if I am done with my cup, I say yes, then she takes it, dumps it out, and fills it up again - only to ask me for three dollars again! This time, I tell her I've had enough water for the evening - she looks a little disappointed, but business at the water stand goes on as usual. I started talking with Em who is washing Piper to my left and a couple of seconds later I feel some wetness in my pocket. I look over and see that Sophia has her hand in my pocket, she smiles bashfully and says, "I need more free dollars dad."
I am rather fearful that somehow my future with these girls is closely going to mirror this seemingly mundane little game of pretend. Remind me to never carry cash...would you?

hahaha, that is so funny. I had to read it to Adrian and his mom (who were in the room with me), and they got a laugh too. Don't you just love kids? Pure entertainment!
